Despite claims by ATU local 279 president André Cornellier that he would speak solely to favourable media regarding the 10 day OC Transpo lock-out, Metrosis news was given the opportunity to conduct a short interview. We caught up to Cornellier as he was leaving his downtown home for a game of Quidditch. Of late the local ATU president has developed the reputation of being a man of few words, and to some a poster boy of PR gone wrong.
When asked about the negotiations scheduled for Saturday involving a Federal mediator Cornellier stammered “No.. nono… ham and cheese… on rye”. Naturally questioning the Union leader’s statement, our field reporter inquired about the ATU sponsored site which went live yesterday (http://www.ottawatransitstrike.com/). “I eat puppies” answered Cornellier. “You eat puppies!?” Metrosis probed. “I finger painted a media statement” interrupted Cornellier.
Local 279 president refused further comments on the subject, as he shuffled off, however we were granted permission to publish his media statement, another well thought out piece of work.
